Bed of Roses

As I lay sleeping on the hardened cold ground
I see my life set before me into oblivion it drowns
The sky-clad misfortune descends on us all
As the nighttime deadens harkens the blackest call.

My bed of roses comforts me and lends my life
And the darkest evening n''er takes flight
From within the distance I see gruesome mass
Hysteria from far away, somehow near, my past.

The creature approaches with great anticipation
And I shiver at the thought of its sheer devastation
But he waits for his darkness writhing to compel
As the fire spews from his lips into the gates of hell.

My red, vibrant petals soothe and make me whole
As I ride the wave into the inferno casting my soul
I feel him touch me deep inside igniting the flame
And it was at that moment I realized his game.

As my glossy skin soaks in this collective sight
I love him more from within, unburdened plight
My bed of roses now unveiled into reality
I abide and wait for time to bring him to me.

And on his darkened wings I will fitfully ride
For it is his time and devotion by my side
As the past woes drown into our silence
My bed of roses long ignored since.

The creature of night and habit is he
For he waves my fears and sets me free
N’er fowl, nor foe will incant my dreams
For he is watching always it undoubtedly seems.

My lover, my mate, my friend, my true only one
Comes to me on my bed of roses before the sun
He bends so gracefully at the knee and whispers
Soft, caressing phrases of his undying love incurred.

I see in him the darkened corners of truth and reality
As he kneels at my rosy bedside forcing his plea
With a wisp and a sigh, he is gone from my holding grasp
But it is with great pleasure with his love I clasp.

The sun shines brightly upon my dented bed of roses
And I lie in contemplating thought of my lover I miss
Counting the seconds, the hours, the minutes all pass
Until his cold touch comes to warm me a mortal’s last.
