Predator And Prey

Predator and Prey
Copyright - 01/14/99

He swims gracefully without flaw at 3 knots through the cool ocean water
His mouth slightly ajar and his eyes black and complacent, he swishes his dorsal fin back and forth keeping a steady pace
He is hunting
He is looking.

Cool salt water flows over and through his over sized, flexing gills
The creature reflexes with complete awareness heightened beyond comparison
He is strong
He rules all oceans.

Scanning sea and horizon the great predator senses distress in the near
Monstrously huge, his shadow passes over the ocean floor, darkening hiding places of potential prey
He smells them
He knows that are there.

Thrashing
A possible prey in distress?
The creature hurriedly changes course heading for the sound of dinner waiting.

Fierce and strange the predator moves ever so swiftly unafraid of any other creature within the depths of sea
His slim airplane figure glides back and forth as he searches for the prey he's already homed in on
Prey calls a distant song
He smells the blood.

Pumping blood through his veins, his heart speeds up as he gains on his bleeding, broken prey
The ocean is his domain and he is king swimming constantly without rest in search of food
He is getting closer
He can feel his prey.

Vibrations from the terrified animal bounce off his receptors he opens his jowls widely
Impending doom, he takes his prey as his eyes roll into his broad head, the seal thinks he can break free
The seal struggles
To no avail.

Drowning in its own blood and salt water the seal's struggle ceases as the great white clamps down once more
Ragged teeth seer and cut the seal's limber flesh, sawing it in half, and White Death thrashes his head from side to side
No time left
Life leaving.

Water once crystal blue spooks violently red as the shark shakes his victim viciously from left to right
His eyes roll back again into his enormous head creating the protective membrane
The prey has fallen
The predator conquers all.
